WONG KEEN: A Singapore Abstract Expressionist
An exhibition of donated works by Mr & Mrs Koh Seow Chuan

9 March – 29 April 2007

In March 2007, the Singapore Art Museum celebrates the donation of a significant collection of artworks in the exhibition Art of Wong Keen. This donation is made up of 63 artworks by Singapore artist Wong Keen that collectively documents a critical period of the artist’s development from the 1960s to current times. An established artist who works in both the Singapore and New York art scenes, Wong Keen is a long-time practitioner of Abstract Expressionism. This exhibition will provide the opportunity to view select pieces of works from the donation.

Convergences: Chen Wen Hsi Centennial Exhibition
汇流:陈文希百年诞辰纪念展

Chen Wen Hsi is one of the Singapore’s pioneer artists. A keen observer of nature and an animal lover, his favoured subject matter includes landscapes, figures, birds and animals, still-life studies and abstract compositions. He was proficient in both traditional Chinese ink and Western oil painting and experimented with a variety of styles including Fauvism and Cubism.

This exhibition is a tribute to the legendary artist's outstanding artistic life. It tracks Chen’s creative development and his profound influence on the Singapore art community, featuring key works from notable periods in his artistic career.
